We are seeking an Economic Analyst to join our established and rapidly growing national team of planners, economists, and engineers recognized for innovative work in transportation planning, economics, and policy. If selected you will support and lead studies related to regional economics and economic development, transportation policy, land use analysis, financial analysis, and related areas. You also will assist in the preparation of proposals and reports, and conduct research on transportation projects. The successful candidate should have enthusiasm for applied economics and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
Requirements: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Planning, Public Policy, Transportation, Civil Engineering, or related field; three to 10 years of experience; relevant experience conducting economic analyses within a consulting environment (optimally in transportation planning); strong analytic, writing, and communication skills; experience with statistical analysis packages, regional economic and freight/commodity flow databases, econometric and input/output models, travel demand forecasting models, or GIS.

(2) Economic Impact Analyst - Southeast Michigan Council of Governments
The Southeast Michigan Council of Governments has major responsibilities for conducting a wide range of planning and policy work, and for the delivery of projects that maintain and improve the transportation system. SEMCOG works closely with federal, state, and local governments in fulfilling these responsibilities. State and local government must provide a transportation system that allows businesses to compete in the global economy. SEMCOG and MDOT recognize that the transportation system, including roads, transit, non-motorized facilities and inter-modal facilities, plays an integral role in supporting the state and region's economy and the quality of life for residents. To further these goals, SEMCOG, in cooperation with MDOT, seeks to enhance the planning and policy processes and project delivery through rigorous technical evaluation of the economic impact of transportation investments.
DUTIES: SEMCOG is seeking a highly qualified candidate to perform economic impact analyses of public sector transportation plans, programs, and projects. Economic impact analysis will be done on regional and statewide transportation plans and various road, rail, freight, and transit projects. The candidate will work with transportation planning and engineering staff of SEMCOG and MDOT to assess the impact of proposed expenditures of public funds on the region's economy in terms of employment, output, and wages and other economic impacts.
QUALIFICATIONS: Excellence in economic research and analysis; training and experience in macroeconomic analysis, economic impact analysis, market analysis, or statistics. Experience with economic impact analysis models such as REMI Policy Insight/TranSight, RIMS II, IMPLAN, or TREDIS-REDYN; Excellent ability to communicate in oral and written form complex economic ideas and technical reports; Ability to accurately and effectively interpret relevant academic literature; Ability to produce very high quality work in limited time frames; Willingness to work in a collegial/team environment; Masters or Ph. D. in applied economics, business, policy analysis, or urban planning.

(3) Economic Impact Analyst - Economic Development Research Group. We are seeking additional staff with experience in economic development evaluation and economic impact modeling. The ideal candidate has a graduate degree in economics, urban/regional planning or public policy, as well as strong skills in economic and statistical data analysis. Applied experience with economic models and strong skills in English writing are also required. Experience with database programs is also desirable.
